Work, Weddings and Free Shit!
"In the words of the Virgin Mary...Come Again?"

Damn, I'm tired. Had a rough day. And the sad thing is, I really didn't do that much. I went in today to work at 4:00 because one of my co-workers has had medical problems and I'm sort of "filling in". We have totally different jobs, but I guess they needed another body no matter what I did. Lucked out, though. Out of the 5 shelter houses we have at the park, only 3 were rented and being used. When I got in at 4:00, the other Maintenance I worker, Tex, had a CSW (that's Community Service Worker) cleaning one of them so that only left 2. Cleaning shelter houses is pretty easy. When the people are done and packed up, we empty the trash cans, turn them over so, if it rains, they don't fill up with water, and then we hose off the pavilion, if it needs it. The renters are actually supposed to pick up after themselves so there's not really a lot to it. That was the easy part, the tougher part comes later.

The park officially closes at 6:00, but the main building has a big ballroom type room that can be rented and it's open until 8 or 9 at night during the week and as late as 11 on weekends. Tonight there was a wedding and a reception so all of our work, after 6:00 focused on the building. They used our big outdoor patio for the ceremony and then the ballroom for the reception. While they're all in having fun at the reception, we have to "tear down" the ceremony set up and get everything ready to put away. Unfortunately, all the stuff goes into storage rooms in the ballroom so we can't put it away until they're all done. When the reception is over, we pack up the chairs and tables, sweep and, if it needs it, mop and then we're done. We do get some good things out of it, though. Last week, the people who set up the reception left Jay and I a bunch of free beer. Jay doesn't drink so I got most of it. Coronas, too. Not cheap shit. This time, they wedding people left us food. And I'm not talking about a plate or two, I'm talking 4 big rectangular aluminum containers full. Jay and I split it up and took it home. It will actually help us out here to save money since we'll have extra food.

Other than that, the day was pretty uneventful. We're starting on trying to clean the place up as best we can so that when the time comes to move, we get as much of our security deposit back as we can. We'll definitely need it elsewhere and I'd hate for it to just be wasted.

Don't really have much else for now. Was actually going to go to bed, but thought I'd update instead. Aren't you lucky? All 3 of you. Anyway, y'all take care and I'll see you soon. Same 'Bear time, same 'Bear channel!
