Work, Rules and another tiring day.
"How many time-outs do we have?"

"Three"

"Can we take 'em all now?"

Man, I'm pretty whipped. And what's worse is that I haven't really done anything. I didn't realize how just sitting around for 6 hours at a time can be so taxing. Oh well. It's all for money.

So, as I said in my last entry, I have a job. I work for a company called The Answer Group (TAG). I had to sign a non-disclosure agreement today so I shouldn't really go into a lot of detail about my job. I'm not sure what I can divulge about it and not get fired. I'll just say this. One of the many clients of TAG is Best Buy an I'll be doing Computer Tech Support for their in-home Product Service Plan or PSP.

Yesterday was really rough. We were supposed to be checked into security by 8:45. This place is really high-tech and strict. The company consists of 6 different buildings, all on land that is owned by the company, not leased. Each building, except for buidling 5, I think, which is HR has a security entrance. It's like an airport. There are 2 security guards, a metal detector and an X-ray machine. We're not allowed to have cell phones at all. If we get caught with one, it's a warning. If we get caught a second time, we're fired. No cameras, floppies or anything like that. So, anyway, I get there at like 8:20 and I'm not on the list. So I wait. I finally get in and we're told to go wait in the lunch area until the training rooms are opened.

By the time we get to the training rooms, it's almost 9:00 an all of the seats are pretty much filled. No biggie. Anyway, there's like 80 or so people in the training room. We're all sitting 3 to a table and we each have a flatscreen monitor, a keyboard and mouse. We sit for about 45 minutes and then get a quick run down of stuff from one of the employees. Afterwards, we all take a couple of skills exams and then we sit. And we sit. And we sit. They had started the "intake" process. Basically, we go up to this office, one at a time, give them our ID and they enter us into their system. Now, some of these people are direct hires of TAG, but the rest of us are there through agencies. This, of course, takes forever, so me and a few of the guys around me sit and talk and joke and have a good time. And wait and wait and wait. Around 1:00, they give us lunch, pizza. Then, sometime after 2:00, they start calling off groups of people, about 20 or so at a time and taking them off to other areas. My group, the Best Buy group, are the ones left in the room. Later on, our trainer comes in and starts giving us the run down of what we'll be doing and such. We can't do much because there's just not that much time left and she doesn't have her stuff. That leaves today.

We covered the database that we're going to be using to log and handle calls and stuff and did some role playing of various types of calls and such. It was pretty fun and I learned a lot, but there are a few people in the class that are already getting on my nerves. There's David, the know-it-all from New York who asks the stupidest questions for someone who's supposed to have all this experience and is just really really annoying. Then there's Ted, who I think might have just graduated high school and acts like he could care less whether he does the job or not. There's a dress code, no tennis shoes. He showed up yesterday in jeans and tennis shoes and then today in dress pants and, yes, tennis shoes. Shit! He sits in the back and doesn't pay attention and then when he gets called on to answer something, he screws around and goofs and just basically doesn't care. I hate shit like that. But, it's not my job to keep tabs on them, I'll just do my job and snicker quietly as he gets fired before the second week is even over.

Well, I'm kind of worn down and just want to go and relax. Maybe I'll talk more about my new job tomorrow or something. We're supposed to get our headsets tomorrow and hopefully, our ID badges on Thursday. I'm so looking forward to Friday, though. I wanna sleep in!!! I'm not a morning person. Oh well.

Take care, my little cubbies.
