Adams, Myst and I found out something pretty cool doday.
"When do I get my own flashy-little-memory-messer-upper-thing?"

Douglas Adams is dead. I can't believe it. Yes, I know I'm about 2 weeks behind the news, but still. Damn, that sucks. Speaking of funny british authors, if any of you still want to show the 'Bear some love, you can get me something off of my wish list at AmazonUK. Remember, all prices are in pounds, not dollars.

I feel so friggin' special today. My company got me a cell phone. It's basically so they can get a hold of me whenever they want to, but it's cool. Now I have a cell phone, I feel like I'm part of the cool crowd. Can't wait for the brain tumors to start growin! Yeah baby!!

It's been almost a month since I passed my checkride and I haven't flown once. What kind of fucked up shit is that? It's not that I don't want to fly, I do, I just don't know what to do. Used to be, I'd go flying because I needed to. Now that I don't have to, I can't figure out what to do. I think I've covered this before but oh well. One idea I have is to take the wife to Key West or something like that. Get away, really get away, for a while. I'd also like to take a trip back home to visit my family, but that's a bit of an undertaking and I think I need a bit more 'sperience first. I do have a list of things to do, just have to wait for the weather to cooperate. I was going to go flying last week, but got screwed. Drove 20 minutes to the airport, preflighted the plane, started pulling it out of the parking spot and looked up to the south west and it was dark as hell and moving my way. Dammit. It's been raining almost every day since. So much for our fuckin' drought, eh? If the weather holds out tomorrow morning, I'm going up for a while.

So, last entry I mentioned that the wife and I had been playing Myst III. Very cool game. If you haven't gotten it yet, get it, it's worth it. I cheated, though. They've come out with a "Collector's Edition" and that's what I got. It comes with the game, but it also has a soundtrack disk, a "making of" disk and a strategy guide. Yes, we used the walkthrough. I'm more into the story than the puzzles anyway. The wife and I finished the game in like 5 hours. We started playing around 10 a couple of weeks ago and finished at about 3:30. It was fun. She read the walkthrough as I maneuvered through the game. I think I actually liked it a little better than Riven. The puzzles are tough, but they're easier to solve than in Riven. Like, the "wooden ball" puzzle in Riven, I had no idea it was a puzzle until I finally got stuck and had to buy a strategy guide and it told me that each one had a number on it and made the sound of a specific animal. If not for the guide I would have never finished the game. Myst III: Exile, however, is different. All the puzzles have something that helps you solve it. They don't give you the answer outright, but they give you clues that, if you remember them, make solving some of the puzzles much easier. On top of that, add the extremely great graphics and you can't lose. Brad Dourif as Saavedro is icing on the cake. He's such a great actor. Really, get this game.

Well, that's about it for me for now. Don't really have much to really tell. Oh, I found out today that my favorite singer, Bruce Dickinson, from one of my favorite bands, Iron Maiden is a pilot. That totally rocks. They even auctioned off some flights with him on eBay, but I didn't know about the auction until it was over. I couldn't have bid besides, I don't have a spare $750 for the minimum bid. Oh well. You all take care and I'll catch you next entry.
