Baby, Travel, and a scare with security.
"There's no place like home."

There's no place like home...and I can't wait to get back down there. Well folks, I've decided to be brave and do an update from my parent's house. If they find this diary, I'm dead, so I must be brief and I must cover my tracks. God, I sound like James Bond or something. Anyway, on to the entry.

Well, the wife, even though I could sense she'd rather not, took me and Icebear Jr. to the Miami airport yesterday for our flight. She did a great job, not crying and all, and I was extremely proud of her. The flight from Miami to St. Louis was pretty uneventful, despite the fact that Icebear Jr. spit up on me 4 times before the plane even left the ground. I was lucky that I even got on the plane. Seems that Conchita, the spanish speaking x-ray attendant had a question about the diaper bag I was lugging around. So, as I stood with Jr. strapped to my chest, my back aching already, and smelling of spit-up, she called for a supervisor to come check her shit out. One minute later, they're running the bag through the machine and the supervisor is opening it up to take a look. Of course, upon seeing the box of wipes sitting on top, she immediately realized what the culprit was, apologized and sent me on my way. Shitty thing is, they never opened it to look inside. It could have been full of C-4 or something, but they never would have known. Good thing I left the box of wipes full of C-4 back at the apartment, eh?

Jr. and I slept on the 2½ flight to St. Louis. He slept more than me, however. The weather was extremely beautiful. The sky at 35,000 feet was blue as blue could be and the cloud layer below was flat and smooth as a silk sheet. Even though we left Miami 10 minutes late, we end up in St. Louis about 15-20 minutes early. Sadly, I had to change planes and sit for about 45 minutes with Jr...and I had to pee. Right about now is the time I realize that the carrier I'm using to tote Jr. around in isn't the great idea that I thought it was. If I leave him in it, I can't reach my zipper (and that's an integral part to the whole peeing process). I take the carrier, and Jr., off and lay him down on the baby changing table, but there's a problem. It's not near the urinals and I'm not about to turn around and leave him unattended. Even if it's to walk 5 feet to piss. I decide to hold it. But the St. Louis airport comes to my rescue.

As I'm meandering around, looking for my gate, I come upon another set of restrooms and I see a sign that says "Family Assist Restroom". Cool. I walk into the men's room, but unfortunately, nothing. That's when I notice a door, between the restrooms, marked Nursery. Hell, won't hurt, try the knob. And it's unlocked. Lo and behold, I stumble upon a simple, one toilet bathroom with changing table and all. All for us. So, I sit Jr. down and he amuses himself by trying to pull his socks off so he can suck on his feet and I go and relieve myself. Aaaaahhhh. Now, we just have to wait for our plane.

The wait wasn't long and, since I was lugging around Jr. I got to board first. There are perks to travelling with infants. Anyway, the flight from St. Louis to Kansas City was only 38 minutes and pretty uneventful. Jr. was asleep before we even took off so I just relaxed and watched the scenery go by. We got to KC about 10 minutes early and there were my parents waiting for us as we disembarked. Five minutes later, we had my one suitcase and were on our way home. Or so I thought. Turns out, they had planned to stop and see some relatives and then, after that, go and visit with my sister for a bit. It was cool, but Jr. was getting fussy and hungry and he was very tired. He fell asleep in the car on the way home and when we finally got here, around 10:00, was pooped. He slept really well last night, as did I.

Well, that was day one of my trip. I'll tell you about day 2, today, some other time. Nothing really big. Just visiting with grandpa, resting most of the morning and then checking out my old high school in the afternoon. I also spent sometime in town showing Jr. off to everyone. He's a big hit here. I miss the wife, though, very much and, I never thought I'd say this, but I miss Florida too. I must be sick or something. Anyway, that's enough of an entry today and should let you all know that the 'Bear is ok and still kicking. I'll try to have something more interesting next entry or so. Till then, take care.

"Where are we going and why am I in this handbasket?"
